*Farmhouse Inspired* Unconventional Side Tables

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

If you haven’t already - check out my Bedroom Makeover 3-PART journey to see the highs and lows I had with this project!

When I tackled my bedroom makeover, I wanted to create farmhouse inspired side tables but with my slanted ceilings I had challenges finding the right solution. I didn’t want anything bulky since we were already fighting for space in the room. Geoff and I only use side tables for a glass of water and a place to charge our phones at night. I decided to go a little unconventional and thrifted these two wooden stools!

I didn’t want to leave them blonde, so I pulled out my chalk paint stash and used my favourite Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in OLD WHITE.

OPTIONAL Step: My favourite part about using Chalk Paint is you can paint ANYTHING without prepping it, but I always think giving your piece a light sand is always good practice and helps ensure your paint will stick that much better.

Step 1: Apply 2 coats of Chalk Paint

Step 2: Apply 1 HEAVY coat of Wax and rub it into the wood to give your table more protection.

Step 3: Once that’s dry, apply 1 light coat of wax to your project for that final finished look and to give it that little added protection it might need.

This DIY was so simple! Get creative here and be unconventional with your side tables! Why not?!

Feeling extra creative? Add shelves on top of the spindles to create extra storage
